As we monitor the spread of the Coronavirus strain COVID-19, Rosie’s Place remains committed to being a place of welcome, safety and support for our guests.
To date, no cases of the virus have been identified within the Rosie’s Place community. But as you know, our guests are among those most at-risk of life-threatening implications should they become ill. The simple fact of poverty has always increased health risks and during a crisis, these risks are disproportionately elevated. Therefore, we must implement safeguarding measures to protect our guests.
In addition to following the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we are working closely with the Boston Public Health Commission and area providers to ensure the health and safety of our community and we are implementing the following precautions:
- We have adopted additional cleaning protocols within our facility, which includes frequent sanitation of high touch areas.
- All employees are being instructed to stay home if they are sick and we are pulling together additional resources to ensure there is no disruption to essential guest services.
- We are providing regular education and instruction to our guests and staff about the importance of hand-washing and other CDC advised precautions.
- Anyone arriving at Rosie’s Place who presents with COVID-19 symptoms will be directed to medical assistance in our Wellness Center and/or other health care facilities.
- In an effort to mitigate risk of exposure to our guests, we have asked our external community of volunteers, interns, supporters, and friends to refrain from visiting us during this time. With the community’s support, we are confident that we can continue to meet our guests’ essential needs.
Rosie’s Place is developing long-range plans to address any further impact to our guests should this virus continue to spread. Their safety and ability to access food, shelter and connection during this time of hardship is our top priority. We will keep you updated, and we thank you for standing with us as we work to ensure our doors remain open for poor and homeless women.
With appreciation,
Leemarie Mosca President/Executive Director
